Use the Item Operations app for item master data, item groups, warehouses, 3PL warehouse management, inventory manager, reports, analytics, bulk editing, stock lookup, item rules, item payment gateways, purchase order pipeline, GL controls, and item admin settings:

Item Creation

Use Item Manager and the item creation wizard instead of raw Item object creation. The wizard supports item grouping, variants, product type, category, warehouse, payment gateway routing, BOM templates, cost fields, and configuration issues.

For large catalogs, optimize item setup around searchable pickers, presets, variant relationships, and reusable templates instead of one-off manual record creation.

Inventory Manager

Use Inventory Manager for manual inventory controls. Provider-owned 3PL inventory should be mirrored from providers and not manually adjusted as if it were internal stock.

For internal stock, use structured actions such as counted-on-hand or quantity-delta adjustments with reason, details, warehouse, reference, before/after quantity, and transaction history.

Item Rules

Item Rules Hub manages rule warnings and blockers across quotes, sales orders, and purchase orders. Rules can be scoped by item, group, location, dates, severity, and conditions. Keep rule names and warning text clear enough for sales and purchasing users to understand the fix.

BOMs

BOM Editor and BOM templates define component structure, quantities, revision/effective dates, and cost intelligence. Finished goods can consume WIP, raw materials, packaging, labor, service, and other classified components.

Purchase Orders

Use Purchase Order Pipeline for PO and CMPO creation. Purchase order workflows include phase status, line status, receiving, receipt notifications, vendor attention, overdue supply, and open supply scheduling.

Do not route users to raw object creation when the pipeline modal exists.
